Report on MSSU's MLK Day of Service

GreenTown Joplin was invited to participate in the Martin Luther King Jr. Week of Service put on by the Missouri Southern State University (MSSU) Resource Center. We set up shop in the Lion’s Den, the cafeteria in the center of campus which is connected to Billingsly Student Center, where we invited students to introduce themselves and assist us in preparing buttons and materials for distribution at the following week’s Business Expo sponsored by the Joplin Area Chamber of Commerce.

The operation was a success. We were able to make ourselves known to the large and diverse student body by distributing flyers with tips to help students live more sustainably, and several students responded with great interest in our work. We hope to see more of the folks we met, and of the MSSU campus, during future events. Thanks go to the MSSU Resource Center for the introductions.
